RTC Risk Assessment
At South Cerney Sailing Club we are very mindful that watersports activities have inherent health and safety risks. We continually work to mitigate and control these risks, as far as is reasonably practicable, by periodically reviewing our RTC top-level or 'master' risk register during each year's programme of RYA training courses.
A risk assessment is carried out by the Training Principal (TP) and the Chief Instructors (CI-D & CI-P) during the February/ March timeframe. We inspect the entire site where our training activities take place, including all facilities, equipment, waterfront, pontoons and site access/ egress. We identify, record and quantify potential hazards which could cause harm to people, assessing their significance and then defining the measures that we adopt to control the associated risks. RYA 'best practice' guidance is followed throughout with specific reference to the RYA document 'Guide to Risk Assessments' and HSE (Health & Safety Executive) documents as appropriate.
The 'master' Risk Register is available as a pdf download document for anybody to review.
