Training

Members benefit from our status as an RYA Accredited Training Centre running a range of courses for members for dinghy sailing and powerboat operation. The following RYA 2025 course dates are now available to book:

24/25 May: RYA Adult L1 & 2, Youth Stage 1/2

28/29 June: RYA Adult L1 & 2

26/27 July: RYA Adult L1 & 2, Youth Stage 1/2

16/17 August: RYA Adult L1 & 2, Youth Stage 1/2

23/24 August: RYA Adult L1 & 2, Youth Stage 1/2

Please note that all adult courses are 2 days, and the Level 1 and Level 2 cannot be completed in a single weekend as both levels require 16 hours tuition.

There will also be a 'summer sail week' 18-22 August, with the opportunity to fast-track RYA L1 & L2 courses in a week, with the option of an additional day of coaching on the Friday either 1-1 or small group.

Courses will only be able to run subject to minimum uptake; should a course not have sufficient uptake then we will do our best to find alternative dates, although this cannot be guaranteed. We may be able to run additional courses should there be enough demand and instructor availability.

For youth courses, a parent or guardian is required to be on site at all times, and minimum age is 8 at time of course.

Dinghy Course Fees 2025

Members: £140 for adult courses, £125 for youth courses

Non-members: £165 for adult courses, £150 for youth courses.

Members should make sure they are logged on to their account to book tickets at the member rate. Non-members will need to set up a website account to book tickets. Following the course, non-members will be offered a £25 discount on membership, and the joining fee waved.

To book an RYA course go to the calendar and click on the required course.

Informal Training

We also run informal training at fleet level with coaches often coming in from outside the club to support specific requirements. Most importantly, time on the water is key to learning and improvement. This is supported by our lake being open to members 24-7 and helped by our membership all willing to provide guidance and advice and there is a wealth of experience to draw on.
