RS Feva travelling the circuit

After meeting up with sailing friends in the summer, we were persuaded out of the blue to purchase a RS Feva dinghy.

Charles has loved trying something different and participating in several RS Feva class training weekends and events flying the flag high for SCSC.

His first event was a 2 day open meet at Draycote back in September. His sister Amy crewed and they achieved a reasonable 11th place out of 20 boats in light, patchy and shifty wind conditions.

Following this in October Charles then travelled to Lymington for a second 2 day open meet and Ava crewed for him. Although Ava is an experience Cadet sea sailor this was Charles' first time competitive sailing on the sea. The wind was strong and gusty but they stuck it out and had a fantastic time finishing in 24th out of 27 boats. They came ashore laughing both days and recounted many comedy moments racing together for the first time.

A few weeks later Charles was paired up with a crew from Cardiff Bay sailing club. November brought the Winter Championships at Weymouth. Having never sailed together they took on strong winds again and achieved a very credible 15th out of a fleet of 39 boats.

The most recent outing was a class training day at Draycote in near perfect conditions bar the afternoon snowstorm. Packing up boats in a snow blizzard and trailing them was an interesting and not entirely stress-free experience for the parents but worthwhile.

Charles is hoping to join in the Sunday racing at our home club as soon as he gets a spare weekend! He can't wait to gain more time in his new toy.
