Dramatic End to Chilli Dog Series

After an incredibly close Chilli Dog series, with a massive fight for the final places on the cards, the wind intervened on the last session and blew everyone off the lake.  After what seemed like hours of debating if anybody had the right stuff to launch from a leeward beach into 25 knots with sustained gusts of 32 knot plus, all elected to stay in the clubhouse and watch Richard Leftley put on some exhibition sailing in his H2. He didn’t last long but provided great entertainment.  The series finished with probably the tightest points of any in recent memory.  Congratulations to Johnny Stevenson and Malcolm James (pictured) winning on 29 points, Andrew Schaffner in second on 32.5 points and Ian Bartlett third on 33 points.  With Vernon Perkins in fourth and John Harvey - Barry Medwell in fifth both on 33.5 points and Mark Caldecourt in sixth on 36.  All pretty tight.  And for those that stayed on, Jill’s Chilli was very welcomed.
A great series and many thanks to Kevin Weatherhead and his fiendish personal handicap calculations that are always a good talking point. How does he really work them out?  And now we look forward to battles commencing again in the new season, and hope to see loads out again for the racing throughout the year.
