Cadet double!

They've only gone and done it.

The club's Cadet Open is always a highlight of the class and social calendar, but the competition is tough.

Last year there was a bantsy parental vow to support our cadet sailors and go hunting for podium places. I think the response from the sailors was along the lines of "You leave this to us". This year, they stepped up and wowed the crowd. First place honours in the main fleet went to Max Buswell and Monty Hampton. And the icing on this year's cake was provided by Ben McLoughlin and Ava Roberts taking the first spot in the Regatta fleet. Ben's been in a cadet for just over a year, Ava - quite a bit less.

Was it the spinkling of Magic Marine glitter that turned the tide, or a year of committed hard work and freezing fingers from the cadet sailors? Either way the engraving on the silverware lists South Cerney sailors for the first time since 2009.

To Max, Monty, Ben and Ava - a massive thank you and a boat load of congratulations.

To our visitors, as ever, thank you for making the weekend such a special event, for the sportsmanship and comitment. The lead in main fleet swapped with every race and in the evening the glasses and conversations never ran dry.

And to Magic Marine, our groovy sponsor - we love having your support. Please accept these thanks on behalf of the cadets.

To everyone else - thank you for coming, for the competition and the pleasure of your company.

See you next year.
