2014 Sailing Programme

Last year we undertook an online  membership survey to find out what members wanted from the club with regards to sailing. We received over 120 responses which was a fantastic response, thank you.   As a result of the survey we have produced the draft programme for 2014 which we hope you will agree is both exciting and innovative. The key points of the programme are:

  • Saturday Mornings- No change but in 2014 we will be launching special events and ideas for cruisers, novices, improvers.
  • Saturday afternoons – Instead of the pursuit race there will be two short handicap races
  • Sunday Mornings – This will now be class racing. There will be two races with three separate class starts; FF’s, Solo/Laser, Handicap
  • Sunday Afternoons – The ever popular 90 minute  pursuit race
  • Trophy Days – There will  be 4 races for each trophy day (2 morning/ 2 afternoon) and the trophy days are split equally between Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year.
  • Bank holidays – These will be left open for fun/cruising events
  • Friday Nights – The Kite runners will move to Friday nights and it will be renames “Kite Runners Plus”  because  we are also encouraging novices and improvers in all classes of boat to come along and join in with the relaxed atmosphere and  simple windward leeward courses. We will also look at possible team racing, match racing, sprint racing. The aim is to kick the weekend off with an enjoyable evening.
  • Cruisers – We now have a cruising representative on the sailing committee; Liz Hassell to specifically look at what we can provide for those members that are cruisers

The programme is currently being input into duty man and over the Christmas period you will receive notification that the programme is open for you to volunteer for duties. Full details of how to volunteer will be sent you.

If you have any question, queries or comments regards the draft programme please do not hesitate to contact a member of the sailing committee
