Some of the successes of our current and former Youth Sailors at home and away!

September 2019

3000 Class Nationals

Max and Will F competed in the 3000 Nationals at Carsington Water and are now the National Champions winning:

  • Fastest boat overall
  • Fastest Laser 3000 (which they did with Hyde sails and none of the V3000 mods)
  • Fastest youth sailors

RS200 SW Ugly Tour

Fran and Will competed in two events at Starcross and Exe and are seeing improvements every time they race. They are getting a lot of support  and advice within the class and were even leant a Jib for the event at Exe by the winning boat as theirs was showing signs of wear.

August 2019

Scorpion Open

Max and Monty competed in the Scorpion Open at South Cerney and came fourth overall and received the Horse and Groom Challenge trophy for the first under 24 boat!

RYA Competent Crew Training

Fran and Will passed their RYA Competent Crew training in Greece and are keen to progress with further training on yachts when they are old enough

REME Foiling RS Aeros

Thanks to REME, Fran and Will had the chance to try out their Foiling RS Aeros, they had a brilliant time flying round the lake with support from their expert trainers! (Photos by Malcolm Stone)

RS200 Youth Nationals

Fran and Will took their RS200 to the Youth Nationals at Rutland with a training session on the Friday and then four races each on the Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately the wind was too strong on the Saturday so rather than risking damage to the boat or themselves they retired during the first race. Conditions were much better on the Sunday and they had boats behind them in every race. It was a great learning experience and they are looking forward to the next events.

June 2019

RS200 Circuit

Fran and Will competed in the Rooster GP3 RS200 Summer Regatta at Hayling Island coming a respectable 38th out of 42 as they were the youngest sailors, in the oldest boat and only their second event!

Will is signed off as a Dinghy Assistant Instructor and now able to support the delivery of training courses alongside Fran who was signed off last year.
