Solos, Europes and courgettes dominate Talbot Cup

19 boats took part in the Talbot Cup this weekend, with the first two races being run in a light southerly breeze and sunshine.  Not bad for an October day!  Solos dominated in the morning's patchy breeze with Andy Miles, Guy Lonsdale, Mike Round and Clive Whitehouse trading places to collect the first three places in the first two races.  During lunch the breeze picked up a little, and saw other classes getting a look in.  Liz Macdonald in her Europe took second place in race 3, between Guy and Andy.  Graham Cooper in his Devotti D-Zero would have almost certainly been in the points had he not been OCS.  He did however take the win in race 4, followed closely (on corrected time at least) by Guy and Andy! Taking the one discard into account, the final results were a 1-2-3 for the Solo class with Guy (1st), Andy (2nd) and Mike (3rd).  A family battle in the junior classes saw Ali Wallace take 3 wins to his sister Catriona's 1 (both in Europes), confirming his win for the day and place at the top of the Cannon trophy leaderboard.  The Coot trophy is led by Andy Miles, with Liz and Mike in 2nd and 3rd place on 10 points each - with one trophy day left (Stradling Trophy on October 25th) its all to play for.  A selection of more original prizes were awarded alongside the silverware (thanks Liz) - the motto is clearly "Eat your greens"!
