Asymmetric Newsletter April 2015

We have had some hardy class members participating through the winter, particularly in the Vareo section. Now the weather is warming up, it is a great time for us all to get back onto the water again. We have a couple of events coming up soon.

Saturday 9th May 2015 is our main asymmetric training day. It is a great way to help get you back up to speed, and to develop your skills further in sailing an asymmetric. The training will be run by Leon Ward, from the RYA, who is an experienced asymmetric sailor. He will give both some theory and on the water practice. It will be a great opportunity to ask those burning questions on improving your technique, then try new skills out on the water. The teaching will start at 10am (boats rigged beforehand please). It would be good to have some idea of numbers, so if you are able please sign up via the club website (in the calendar, click on the asymmetric training day on 9th May).

Saturday 6th June 2015 will be our asymmetric open meeting. We are increasing the number of races over the day to 4 this year. The club will be open from 9am, with bacon butties to help you get your energy up for the day. Registration will start at 9.30, and a pre race briefing no earlier than 10.15am. The first race is planned to start at 11am, with 2 races before lunch and 2 after lunch with 3 races to count. The afternoon races will start ahead of the club handicap races.
The entry fee for the event is £10.00.
We would encourage asymmetric sailors of any ability to come along and join us; there will be some great racing and it should be an excellent social event too. The bar will be open after racing, and we are planning a bite to eat to round off the day.
The Flyer and the Notice of Race can be downloaded from the ‘Events – Calendar’ Section of our club website ( http://www.southcerneysailingclub.org.uk ) Registrations can be made via ur website too.

Hope to see you at one, or hopefully both of these events.
