UKNCCA Cadet Class

Come and Join In the Fun!..

From Beginner to aspiring Olympian, the RYA Cadet Class is the Worlds’ most successful 2 person training dinghy specifically designed for children and young people.

We offer a full programme of fun events at local and national level which encourage and support all children to learn to sail and improve their skills to become a racing sailor.

You never forget your first Cadet! – come and find out why…

The Cadet Class Association is the UKNCCA and supports your local Squad to run training sessions, racing events and other organised activities to ensure your child gets the maximum fun whilst learning how to sail a Cadet. The Association also promotes and arranges National and International events for those that progress their racing.

The Cadet Racing Experience

  • Racing at club level and at regional open events adds to their confidence and gives an opportunity to build on prior learning experience and on friendships already made.
  • Competing at National level in a series of events culminates for these junior sailors in the annual Cadet Nationals.
  • Access to the best junior racing in the world for those selected to represent GBR at the World Championships
  • Subsidised Race Training with the best Coaches in the UK
  • Many Cadet sailors progress on to the 420 or 29er RYA Pathway Classes at an appropriate stage in their development; others move on to their preferred Club class or start coaching or move straight in to keel boats.

"Some of my fondest sailing memories are from my Cadet sailing, the boat gave me such a great level of base skill and prepared me for everything I have done since and I loved every minute. The friends I met along the way are friends for life and we had so much fun and many stories to tell. Sailing has brought so much to my life apart from just competition - everyone should get that opportunity”.  Pippa Wilson MBE, 2008 Olympic Gold Medallist
