South Cerney 96 Cadet Squadron will make financial awards for 2016 / 2017 to help individuals develop their instructing and coaching skills. This is a great opportunity for the individual coaches and also the Squadron.
Who is able to apply?
Applicants must be current members of South Cerney Sailing Club and on 31st October 2017 will be over 16 but under 19 years of age.
What is the award for?
The award is a sum of £500, to each successful applicant, to help them cover the cost of training associated with obtaining RYA Dinghy Instructor certification or the RYA Level 2 Race Coach award, and gain coaching experience. This award can be used to cover the cost of training courses, accommodation, incidental expenses or equipment required to obtain and develop instructing and race coaching skills and experience.
What is involved?
Successful applicants are required to obtain RYA recognised certification, by 31st October 2017 for the following:
In addition, each successful applicant must deliver at least 10 coaching sessions with South Cerney 96 Cadet Squadron during the 2017 season, dates to be agreed and confirmed with the Cadet Captain. Usually this will be between the beginning of April and the end of October.
Coaching sessions may be delivered under the guidance of an existing adult RYA Dinghy Instructor or RYA Level 2 coach, who will offer assistance, feedback and mentoring as necessary.
How will the award be paid?
Each award will be paid in 2 instalments of £250, the first on 31st July 2017 and the second on 31st October 2017 (subject to gaining the required qualifications and honouring the 10 coaching sessions). Should an applicant fail to meet their obligations for this award, 96 Cadet Squadron reserves the right to withhold one, or both of these payments.
How do you apply?
To be considered for this award, each applicant must contact the 96 Cadet Squadron Captain (email@example.com) and notify their intent to apply.
Applicants will be invited to present their application to a selection panel. An applicant’s presentation should be limited to 15 minutes. An additional 15 minutes will be available for the selection panel to ask the applicant questions. A projector and projection screen will be available if required.
