Training

We offer training events for the asymmetric fleet every year, details below

The club now provides an experienced sailor on Saturdays to help with all manner of sailing from rigging and launching through to building confidence on the water and onto racing. Do make the most of this expertise, whether you are a novice looking for confidence to get going again, or like me, you feel that there are skills that you could learn to help you get the most out of your sailing.

Sailing on small inland waters has its limitations, and racing provides a reason to sail. You don’t have to be contesting the top places, there is plenty of fun to be had lower down the fleet. Saturdays is the perfect opportunity to gain some confidence on the water with the ‘expert’ in the morning, and then take part in the pursuit race in the afternoon, when the start line is never more than a few boats.

In addition, Kevin Weatherhead (RS Vareo 549) has offered to provide on the water advice and technique. Kevin is a seasoned sailor and asymmetric enthusiast and most of us will benefit from his observation and tips. Kevin is available for all class memebers wanting some coaching tips on most Saturday mornings when there is a pursuit race in the afternoon. Contact Kevin or see updates when these Saturday sessions are to be held.

Kevin Weatherheads confirmed coaching sessions:

6th May, 20th May
